If you missed the live broadcast on Feb. 26th of our candid ”Fireside Chat” with Civil Rights Living Legend, Dr. C.T. Vivian, you can still listen to the recorded podcast through Atlanta Life Radio at www.atlantaliferadio.com . In celebration of Black History Month during the month of February, Minister Dr. Regina Ward and I were honored with the opportunity to sit down and talk with this great man of God and Civil Rights icon to partake of his wisdom and knowledge.
Congratulations to Dr. Vivian for being a 2013 recipient of the Presidential Medal of Freedom!
Dr. Vivian is a minister , author and was a very close friend and lieutenant of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. throughout the American Civil Rights Movement. Dr. Vivian was an active participant in the Freedom Rides in 1961 which were efforts by Civil Rights activists to challenge the status quo by riding various forms of public transportation in the South to
challenge local laws or customs that enforced segregation. The Freedom Rides, and the violent reactions they provoked, bolstered the credibility of the American Civil Rights Movement. They helped to call national attention to the disregard for the federal law and the local violence used to enforce segregation in the southern United States. Police arrested riders for trespassing, unlawful assembly, and violating state and local Jim Crow laws, along with other alleged offenses, but they often let white mobs attack them without intervention.
Dr. Vivian resides in Atlanta and is the founder of the C.T. Vivian Leadership Institute, Inc. which was set up to largely “Create a Model Leadership Culture in Atlanta, Georgia.” Dr. Vivian continues to speak publicly and offer workshops, and has done many conferences around the country and the world, to include the United Nations.

We were truly honored to have been given this opportunity and want to share it with you!
